Parque de la Naturaleza Cabarceno

The beauty of the Cali is that it is many vehicles rolled into one. Having driven 500 miles they day before, putting us in the car park for our visit today. It also made an ideal vehicle for touring around this amazing park.

This is a cross between a zoo and a safari park. It’s a huge site, beautifully landscaped with few fences needed for the animals due to the unusual topography of the grounds. At the same time, you are afforded wonderful views across the surrounding Cantabrian mountains and over the city of Santander.

The animal collection is large and they all look happy and relaxed. The displays are amazing- we watched the birds of prey and the sea lions. Although we could not understand the enthusiastic Spanish commentary, the displays were hugely impressive. An excellent day.

We are spending tonight in the same spot, ready to move on to Bilbao for our ferry back to the UK.
